So every now and then, I'd crave healthy... actually, I don't crave healthy. I like seeing what it feels like to be healthy for once, so yesterday morning, all I had was a kiwi and an apple for breakfast before work. It was more like a brunch because I woke up pretty late, so the fruits were consumed at around 11am. Had a cup of tea and that was it. Just fruits. Maybe a packet of koala biscuits too...
Then I headed to work and didn't get food till a proper break, which was around 6pm, where I had a bowl of instant udon. Felt it wasn't substantial enough because it was just noodles and NO meat, NO veggies, nothing. Went and bought a loaf of bread and bacon... had two bacon sandwiches.
Still felt like I could eat. Leeched off a colleague for some peanut butter and had a peanut butter sandwich. Had more tea. Felt more satisfied....
Moral of the story? L cannot go healthy.

It's funny because at my music therapy work on Mondays, all the staff will get together for lunch and it's strange to see how diverse our lunches are. A few of us are from Hong Kong, one from Taiwan, from Indonesia, France, and a couple of true blue Aussies. Asians will almost always bring rice, or some form of rice and dishes. To the others, it's like eating dinner rather than lunch, but we'd look at their lunch of salads and sandwiches and soups and say "that will only give us half an hour's worth of energy, we need rice...".

And it's so true because soups and sandwiches really don't fill me up very much. I've tried. Eating healthy just prompts me to eat unhealthier because when I don't get full from a meal, I end up snacking. Sugar stuff. Loads of it.

So probably the best option of "eating healthy" is actually just eating normal big meals, like rice plus dishes like meat and veggies. Sushi is good too! Lots of rice in sushi~ but it's really not as healthy as people think. Sushi rice is mixed with loads of sugar (with vinegar), and oil too sometimes, depending on which restaurant and what you get with your sushi *ahem soft shell crab... inari...*

Really liked Sushi Hotaru though. It's this huge sushi train on the level below Kinokuniya at the Galeries Victoria (no, I didn't misspell "galleries", just like how I don't misspell "capitol square") which opened quite recently. All dishes $3, so of course you get the premium stuff. Like sashimi. And soft shell crab.

Can't go past eel and tamagoyaki either, which, in my opinion, is one of the best combination for sushi ever. Can be in a hand roll (temaki) like this, or in a nigiri form (small balls of rice with stuff on top), though of course, nigiri is much better :D

This was a month ago, Daiso is actually already opened here. There's another one opening near Central too. Daiso stores are popping up everywhere! This is within the Asian supermarket at Townhall, just opposite Kim Sun Young, the Korean green hair salon. That supermarket is pretty crazy, it's like an easyway+takeaway store+supermarket+$2 store+crepe store, all in one now.

It's great cos I usually get drinks and snacks and all things unhealthy from here, including my weekly dose of Orion custard pies... and yes, they stock nice ice creams too, so I can just grab one and head to the station to wait for my train while munching one of these. People stared while I was happily digging into this, but I understand why. I'd stare too if I saw someone eating ice cream *oh the envy!* :D

Gotta be wary on the rice (and big meals) in general I find..
Can really make you so sleepy in the afternoon, especially if you know you have super long (somewhat dull) meetings in the afternoon.
The risk of falling asleep in meetings is.. so bad.. :(
